Via The Right Scoop, Colonel West exhibits the quality of actual candor, real “straight talk”, one of the many personality traits that have endeared him with Tea-Partiers and others:
The President’s concern is about getting reelected. The President’s concern is that he is an intransigent, liberal, progressive socialist who is also Marxist because of the class warfare rhetoric that he espouses. And I think that when you heard him on Friday and the more he comes out and talks, the more truly out of touch and incompetent he seems.
Dude! That is rip-tastic! TRS goes on to illustrate the point West used as a central exhibit of the President’s class warfare argument; that while Obama claimed 80% of the public wanted tax increases as part of any budget deal, he neglected to mention that 47% of the public paid no Federal income taxes. Mr. West wondered aloud whether the President had known of, or considered, this at all.
But it gets even better. West goes on to light up Sheila Jackson-Lee for her race-based remarks on Friday:
Attacking this President is not attacking his skin color. It’s attacking his failures. He has a vision for this country that is anathema to the vision of the founding fathers, in our belief in individual responsibility and accountability and our free markets and free enterprise system.
Gee I love that kind of talk. Now if only we could have that kind of refreshing directness coming from the White House on a regular basis. Hey, wait a minute–I think I have an idea how to make that happen…

A guy who was kicked out of the military for abusing helpless POWs isn’t really a decent source of quotes.
Beggars can’t be choosers, though.
He wasn’t kicked out of the military, he retired, and it wasn’t a “helpless POW” it was a captured terrorist and he wasn’t abused, no harm came to that TERRORIST who you are so concerned about. But don’t let the facts get in the way of your trolling. Leftists never do.
Keep settin’ ‘em straight, Zilla.
Now if he had cut the guys head off, or burned him to a crisp and hung him from a bridge, well, then we will talk.
Ponce doesn’t deal well with facts Zilla; he/she is a member of the “reality based” community where memes rule and inconvenient truths are wished away.
Colonel West is an honorable man who served his nation well as an Army Officer, and continues to serve the people of Florida in his capacity of a Congressman,
But what can I say; h8terz gonna h8t…
Your criticism is clearly race based; at least, by the rules your crowd generally ascribes to.
I love it! I soooo wish we could get him to run! I would walk barefoot over broken glass and through fire if it meant that I could see him debate Captain WTF JUST ONCE! TOTUS would explode!
This is a terrific post, but please don’t get mad at me for telling you about the typo in the title: “Petulent” is spelled “Petulant”.
No problem Zilla, thank you for the correction. I’m usually better at spelling, but somehow missed that typo
My Regards
I need to know more about his positions on a lot of things before I’d get too enthused.
I do like his instincts. Busting caps alongside the head of people who you are trying to intimidate is a fairly good approach, but that really doesn’t work out here in flyover country. We tend to shoot back. As do our friends when we go missing.
He sounds good, so far, but I need a whole lot more information before I’d be willing to start supporting him for National office.
Unlike Obama supporters, I need to know a fair amount about the positions of the folks I’m contributing to, and voting for. I’m afraid he’d be another “Compassionate Conservative”, truth be told.
And that’s the name of that tune.
That’s a good practice jefferson101. I mostly admire his candor, and foreign policy positions; along with his service record.
He was served lemons, and has made lemonade out of it.
For me it’s a refreshing change to hear someone call Obama out so directly.
First let’s get West re-elected in his district. It’s not going to be a cakewalk because his district isn’t a safe Republican seat. But once he has some seniority and added gravitas that comes with it (and maybe a major committee chairmanship) he’ll be a real force to be reckoned with. Right now he is preaching to the choir, which has its value, but doesn’t place him in a position to address to the country at large. I’m a fan — I think he has charisma and smarts, and has real potential to be a major GOP leader in coming years. But first he needs to tend his own district.
All excellent points Boldface! For what it’s worth, West has stated that he has no desire to be on a national ticket anytime soon, but wants to establish a record, like you mention, to go with his commanding presence, natural charisma, and other leadership qualities.
You’re right about the immediate goal is to see him re-elected.
Thanks for your input.
