Remembering the Year’s Stories

Nice Deb has her round up of 2011′s top stories at her place, and it’s not a bad place to start. Doug Ross has his top blogs and media presences of the Dextrosphere, and it’s a good list, too.

It’s just that time of year.

My thoughts have been on other things, so please excuse the shagginess of this compilation, and feel free to emend anything that you find unsuitable.

Funniest Story of the Year: For me, it’s got to be Weinergate, over which I laughed and laughed. Moe Lane disagrees, insisting it was the moment when Pelosi had to hand over the gavel, as though the results of the election had never registered with her until that moment. Another story that had me guffawing was the one about the Ku Klux Kone.

La Pundette reminds us of this one, too.

Sickest Story of the Year: Kermit Gosnell and company. Thanks to Pundette for that one, and boy am I glad I didn’t pull jury duty.

Iconic Photograph of the Year: Occupy dude pooping on police cruiser. Well done, bro.

Absolutely Saddest Story: Japanese tsunami and nuclear meltdown.

D-Bag of the Year: A strong field, but unfortunately John Edwards manages to capture it again (no, no the one on South Park) by claiming he’s too ill to go to trial.

Most Outrageous Story: Fast and Furious.

Stupefyingly Strong MSM Performance: Sharyl Attkisson, CBS.

Most WTF Fad: Occupy movement, with Neti pot and Twilight a distant second.

Aging Badly: David Letterman became Grandpa of the Simpsons.

Greatest American Patriot: Bibi Netanyahu.

Most Gratifying Comeback: Andrew Lawton.

Nicest Guys on the Internet: Jimmie Bise and Peter Ingemi.

Women Who Are Kind to Me on the Internet: Cynthia Yockey, Tree Hugging Sister, Sissy Willis, Pundette, Lisa Graas, The Anchoress, Joy McCann.
