Before you begin your morning, you should read Film Ladd's analysis of Neal Rauhauser's latest post. Film Ladd rightly points out that Rauhauser is among a company of people who believes that they've evolved Beyond Good and Evil, and for whom the rules don't apply. I mentioned early on in my engagement with the Kimberlin Affair that reading through his history, it strikes one that Kimberlin was able to rally all kinds of psychologically compromised people to his causes, and that he was rewarded for his manipulations by leftists who found him useful to their agenda. These would be the very same leftists who were keen to try to implement recent Obama advisor Cass Sunstein's recommendations vis-a-vis conspiracy theories, by creating an actual corps of government 'truth tellers' who would, often under the guise of regular citizens with no real agenda, seek to discredit conspiracy theorists . . . and by some strange coincidence it would be their employers who decided what was and what was not conspiracy theorizing.
Rauhauser observes that he has successfully played "conflict cupid" by offering sets of talking points and inviting other smarter-than-thou post-humans to connect them up. You'll see the same behavior in the bizarre interview given to PressTV by Dr. Webster Tarpley. You see, there is a Mormon Mafia in US intelligence, and there's this filmmaker, and there's Pam Geller, and there's this provocateur pastor, and . . . well, you add it up! Right now, there are a lot of conspiracy theorists working the angle that Nakoula Basseley Nakoula is the pawn of some shadowy Zionist group that has allied with the Mormons (possibly via Glenn Beck) to sow dissent in the Middle East and bring down Obama, whereas the President of Libya is pretty certain that the Benghazi assassinations were the work of al-Qaeda affiliiates who wanted revenge for the drone strike that killed one of their own. The latter speculation has a certain Occam's razor appeal to it, as does my own regarding Nakoula: he is a scammer who was scamming his investors, possibly after having watched The Producers, who had promised some of them that the film would go after Muslim treatment of Copts.
Rauhauser's confession is certainly an attempt at damage control prior to Brett Kimberlin's being forced to turn over a whole bunch of information in discovery, in part due to his own hubris at representing himself pro se . . .because he is a Universal Genius—in addition to being a child molesting domestic terrorist and serial lying murderer—in his own conceit.
The Obama administration's contention that the Benghazi murders were "sparked" by Nakoula's movie is absurd on its face, as is the reason that they give for refusing to answer any more questions about why security at Benghazi and Cairo were so lax, but there are MSM idiots who are willing to trot the line out again and again. The sad fact of the matter is that the Libyan President has a higher estimation of Americans' intelligence than the administration and the MSM journos do, though whether he is justified in this estimation or not is questionable. Mother Jones published excerpts from a secretly recorded Mitt Romney speech in which Romney stated that 47% of Americans pay no (federal income) taxes. Had this been James O'Keefe III, there would now be denunciations and insistence that he publicize in full the raw tapes, but this is merely the work of professional journalists, who are not held to the same standards.
More to the point: was what Romney said false? No, but it is undiplomatic to tell the truth. Mother Jones is now online insisting that Romney reveal the identities of all his donors at this $50k per plate fundraising banquet, though if ever such demands touch The Won, there is very little interest on the part of the MSM in reporting it. The press corps reaction to Romney's claim looks for all the world like Muslim rage . . . which exists but should never be mentioned in polite society.
The facts are uncomfortable. The US is $16 trillion in debt. The recovery isn't. Last month, 4 workers left the job market for every one who found a new job. In the last fiscal quarter, 49% of US households received some kind of federal assistance. Skippy went to bed without knowing the fate of Christopher Stevens, and Middle East intelligence officials are telling us that they warned of imminent attacks on US installations abroad, but that nothing was done about it. The President declined to participate in intelligence briefings over 60% of the time. QE3 has resulted in another USs credit downgrade. Municipalities are going broke. Alt-energy stimulus backed with taxpayer dollars continues to fail. The government refuses to unload their shares of GM, despite the latter's desire to get their unload their loans on the cheap, because it would reveal how much taxpayers have lost just after the Democrat's National Convention made the bailout and abortion the symbols of their success. The power of the state is employed against those who dare somehow to offend its sensibilities. Therefore, Black Panthers who threaten voters have their convictions overturned, but states must not impose supposedly draconian ID requirements. A man who shoots his assailant in Florida is prosecuted despite the evidence that he was complying with the law, because he is a "white Hispanic" who must have been profiling the young black man who jumped him. Prosecutors are discovered illegally to have withheld information from an Alaskan Senator's defense team in discovery, and nothing happens to them. His replacement represents a crucial vote for ObamaCare, which turns out to cost thrice what it was sold at, because legislators provided false numbers to the GAO, which they were obliged to use, but the press is not interested in that. The President browbeats Supreme Court justices during the State of the Union speech, but a legislator who shouts out, "You lie!" is condemned . . . when in fact the President had lied. Gallup's polling shows results that offend Obama's reelection team, so they are hit with a lawsuit joined by the bought out DoJ, which promotes and moves to Washington, DC several ATF functionaries complicit in the provision of high-powered weapons to Mexican drug cartels—who kill several hundred Mexican nationals and at least one US Border Patrol agent with them—where those functionaries can have an eye kept on them, and then the President invokes executive privilege to stonewall the investigation. A man makes a movie that the administration lies to claim is the cause of the death of its Ambassador to Libya, and the media uncritically mouths the lie, while cheering for the investigators who take the man into custody for exercising formerly constitutionally protected freedom of speech, much to the delight of the jihadi asshats who murdered the Ambassador. At every turn, the President seeks to cede US sovereignty to unelected, unaccountable, stupid international bureaucracies, and the press portrays him as a great patriot.
The media know all of these things, and more, but they simply do not care. They sell their souls for access to the White House and a plate of canapes, and believe that the President must be protected at all costs. The President rails against privilege, but no man in US history has been as privileged as Obama. He lied about opening the Health Care negotiations to C-SPAN, but he must be protected. He lied about his mother's 'health insurance' battle, and Tom Hanks went on to re-narrate the falsehood in weaselly terms in a re-election film, and the media don't care, because they answer to the higher truth of Obama's agenda, and not knotty little factual details. He lied about negotiations with pharmaceutical companies. Meh. He shut down the back-end verification in his 2008 election donation site, in order that his own donors should not be traceable, but the administration wants Romney to reveal all his SuperPAC donors, and the media is fine with this. Never has the great power of the presidency been wielded with less accountability, but most of the press are too busy covering Obama's ass to care about such trivialities. Obama's staff may give out information and disinformation on covert operations, if it helps him, but woe betide a mere citizen who tries to do the same.
It goes further than malign neglect. Polls are ridiculously oversampled to make it appear that Obama will undoubtedly win re-election, and they are duly declaimed by the MSM. Any chance to play the equivalency game, they jump at. Mitt Romney is a horrible person for having strapped a dog to the top of his car on a family vacation, but Ted Kennedy, in whose sunken Oldsmobile Mary Jo Kopechne perished while the Great Man staggered to a hotel to sleep off his binge, is the Second Celebrity of the convention. The presentation is nothing but blear and smear, meant to confuse and demoralize anyone who wants to get rid of the staggering failure who abuses and offends the office. He is a fraud, and his handlers are frauds, and many in the MSM are frauds, too, which is why they have such compassion for the frauds who received that money in the Pigford II settlement.
Clint Eastwood is quite right to assert that Obama is the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on the American people. The press has actively promoted the fraud and willingly surrendered their profession to the instrumentality of a post-constitutional state. They have made of this slack-jawed anti-imperialist the closest thing to a monarch that the country has ever groaned under since it gained its independence from Great Britain. And despite his multiple manifest failures and the damage they have done to the American polity and economy, they cheer, because it flatters their ludicrous, elitist sensibilities. The first thing the intelligentsia knows is that it is incapable of error. The second, that Obama understands. QED.
They, like Rauhauser, are the real heroes of their narratives, don't you know, basking in the glow of triumphant Team Obama as it barrels toward another Super Bowl win. Except that they're supposed to be the referees. They wish to make us grovelingly grateful even for small decencies, and a surprising number of people are. Such judgments trend increasingly in the direction of humblebragging, but must never go so far as really to put the game in jeopardy.
Take your informedicine, like a good boy. In November, Obama will have more flexibility, and those meanies who trouble your mind won't be able to bother him anymore.
UPDATE: Emails show collusion, co-ordination between DoJ and tax-exempt Media Matters.
