Keith Ellison Displays Classic Freudian Projection [UPDATE]

I was going to say something about the pot and the kettle, but I figured I'd be called a RAAAAACIST! if I dared. Suffice it to say that Ellison went cuckoo-bananas when his Republican challenger hit too close to home.

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) blew into the news cycle after referring to his Republican opponent as a “low-life scumbag,” “gutter dweller,” and “real stupid” in a debate today.

He's since "apologized" and given the excuse that he was defending his daughter's personal honor…or something.

When Ellison was first given his turn at the DFL's 5th Congressional District I thought people–on both sides–were making a bit too much of a big deal about his religion. If he was a Mohammedan and chose to take his oath on the Koran, what of it? This is America, where our most sacred principal is that religion is not to be an impediment to public life.

You'd think after all these years I'd be less naive, but what can I say? I'm a glass-half-unbroken kind of a guy.

While Crybaby Keith has a temper tantrum over trash talk from his opponent, let's not forget a major issue which eats away at his congressional district: al-Shabaab. Maybe Keith thought that an on-air meltdown would distract attention away from the fact that a man in his district was just convicted on five terrorism-related charges and the fact that Ellison's concerns on this subject have revolved mostly around restoring one of al-Shabaab's means of funding.

As a Muslim-American and the first Muslim legislator at the federal level, you'd think Ellison would be more concerned and proactive about eliminating Islamic terror recruiting in his own congressional district. You'd think he'd see how awful it makes him and the Somali immigrant community look, but alas, you'd be wrong. In fact, Ellison has decided that going on the offense and accusing the accusers is the way to go.

In his speech, Ellison expressed similar disdain for Abdirizak Bihi, a Somali American from Minneapolis who also testified. Bihi's teenage nephew Burhan Hassan was shot to death in Somalia in June 2009. Burhan was one of at least 20 Somali men and teenage boys from the Twin Cities area who have traveled to Somalia since 2007 to fight for the terrorist group al-Shabaab. The "only reason" Bihi was invited to testify was "because he's willing to diss the Somali and Muslim community in Minneapolis," Ellison said.

As part of his testimony, Bihi described how Islamist leaders discouraged people from cooperating with the investigation into the missing men. Talking to the FBI could get you sent to Guantanamo Bay, they said. And, there are consequences in the afterlife by being damned with "eternal fire and hell."

Ellison's harshest remarks were reserved for Zuhdi Jasser, president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy – and like Bihi, a non-Islamist Muslim. Jasser was invited to testify "because he fits the narrative of people who want to defame you," Ellison told his Michigan audience.

Jasser's real goal, he suggested, was to criticize Muslims in order to enrich himself. Ellison said that "if you want to make some money talking about Muslims," follow the example of Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

I'd hope that this is the year that voters decide they've had enough of Ellison's shenanigans, but the last time the 5th Congressional District elected a republican, John F. Kennedy was still alive so I'm not going to hold my breath waiting.

[UPDATE]

Washed-up Twin Cities liberal hack reporter Brian Lambert reports on the opinionating about Keith Ellison's temper tantrum, referring to JWF as "Something called Jammie Wearing Fool", whereas having a (COLUMN) at MinnPost makes you a serious reporter.

Are you trying to start riots here, or what?  Keith Ellison is a Muslim, and Freudian Psychiatry is probably an offense against Shaira Law.  Someone is goiing to kill another one of our Ambassadors over this, and it'll be all your fault, don't you know?
